Odisha government launches e-farming app and portal to promote digital crop surveys

Bhubaneswar. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment KV Singhdev on Wednesday launched the e-farming portal and app to facilitate crop production and processing by implementing the digital survey policy in agriculture. It was inaugurated at the research ground of Odisha Agricultural and Technical University, Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department, Dr Arvind Kumar Padhi, Director, Agriculture Prem Chandra Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, OUT, Prabhat Kumar Raul, and many agricultural scientists and farmers were present. The digital crop survey programme in Odisha will promote prosperous agricultural policies and provide accurate information about crop yield in remote and inaccessible areas. Based on the data, it will help in formulating progressive policies in the field of agriculture. E-Farm App and Digital Crop Survey Portal will accelerate technology-based agricultural services in Odisha.

48 lakh farmers to benefit: KV Singhdev

On this occasion, Shri Singhdev said that Odisha is the first state to adopt a digital survey policy in agriculture and around 48 lakh farmers will benefit from this app and portal. The E-farming app and portal is a decisive step in the field of agriculture. This will provide farmers with a comprehensive single-window platform. Through this, crop-related data and information can be verified at any time and in any season. It is noteworthy that in the year 2023 this survey was tested as a pilot project in Bhadrak, Deogarh, Nuapada and Nayagarh districts. After successfully surveying around 30 lakh plots, it has now been implemented in other areas of the state as well. The survey will be carried out on 48 lakh hectares of land. Dr. Padhi said that 28,000 surveyors, 8,000 supervisors and 1,400 inspectors have been deployed for this work.

All Odisha homes to get electricity connection by end of September: Deputy Chief Minister

Deputy Chief Minister KV Singhdev on Wednesday said that the Odisha government is hopeful that all families in the state will have electricity connections by the end of September. Replying to a question from Congress MP Pavitra Saunta, Power Minister Singhdev said that as per the data received from electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs), houses without electricity connection have also been included in the state government’s electrification plan. Singhdev said that Rs 415 crore has been given to Discoms for this and the aim is to connect such houses to the grid by the end of September 2024.
