11 police officers killed in Pakistan’s Punjab province after rocket attack on their vehicles

Lahore: At least 11 police officers were killed and several injured when criminals attacked them with rockets in Punjab province of Pakistan On Thursday, Pakistani police sources said that several police officers were also taken hostage in Rahim Yar Khan district, about 400 kilometers from Lahore, when two police vans got stuck on a muddy road at Machah Point.

“Meanwhile, the dacoits (outlaws) reached there and attacked them with rockets. At least 11 policemen were killed in the attack at the spot, while some of them were taken hostage and the rest were injured,” a police spokesman said. Punjab The police said.

He added that the death toll could rise as the condition of some of the injured was critical.

The outlaws managed to flee after the attack.

The spokesman said a strong police contingent arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan after the incident.

Taking strict note of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar to rush to the spot and launch an operation to recover the policemen held hostage by the miscreants.

She said that the rule of criminals in the kacha (suburb) areas of these districts will not be tolerated.
