According to PIB, this upcoming facility is part of a broader strategy to bolster the infrastructure needed for widespread adoption of EVs in India and is expected to play a crucial role in supporting EV manufacturers, particularly in South India, by providing vital resources for testing and quality assurance.
Additionally, a satellite centre is being set up at RRSL’s Jakkuru campus in Bengaluru to further expand testing capabilities, especially in the areas of EV battery and charger testing. This development aligns with India’s commitment to foster innovation in automotive technology and promote environmental sustainability.
Speaking at the event, Mr Joshi also highlighted the essential link between electric vehicles and renewable energy sources, underlining the importance they have together in moving towards a sustainable future. He urged all stakeholders to work together to achieve the common goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting cleaner energy alternatives.
The National Testing House, under the aegis of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, operates state-of-the-art testing laboratories in cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Ghaziabad, Guwahati, Jaipur and Varanasi.
