Maersk appoints Christopher Cook as new Managing Director for India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka

Maersk has appointed Christopher Cook as is new Managing director for India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka from 1 October 2024. Cook brings a wealth of experience, having held a number of key leadership positions at Maersk, most recently his current role as Managing Director of United Arab EmiratesOman and Qatar. In his new role, Cook will lead Maersk’s commercial organization in that geographic region.

Richard MorganManaging Director for the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and Africa, said in a statement: “I am delighted to welcome Christopher in his new role. He will be taking charge of one of our most important markets and I am confident that his extensive experience will contribute to our growth in that geographic area.”

Cook has driven substantial growth by successfully diversifying the business and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. He transformed the product profile by leveraging the maritime portfolio in the UAE and successfully expanding into critical areas such as air freight and contract logistics. Cook strongly advocates for decarbonization, diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) and corporate social responsibility.

Christopher Cook said: “This region presents immense growth opportunities and I look forward to working closely with our talented team. Together, we will strengthen Maersk’s position as a trusted logistics partner for our customers, while driving solutions that create value for them and our shareholders.”
