Wife and two children of railway worker held hostage in Asansol, abscond with jewellery worth 10 lakh

Bengal Crime Newsramkumar : In Asansol, two youths took a woman and her two children hostage in a house and committed robbery at gunpoint. A woman was sleeping with her children in the railway quarter of Asansol and at 3 am the robbers broke the lock and entered the house. The robbers threatened the woman with a sharp weapon. The robbers escaped with Rs 50,000 cash and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh. After receiving information about the incident, Railway Police and Asansol South Police Station reached the spot and investigated the matter.

The husband was not at home, the wife was there with two children.

According to information, Bhupendra Kumar Singh, who works as a point person in Asansol Railway Division, is living in the railway accommodation near Domhani Railway Colony jetty. Currently, he has shifted to his ancestral village for some personal work. During this time, only his wife Shweta Singh and children are at home. Today, at around 3:00 am, two youths broke the lock of the house and entered with Bhojali and other sharp weapons in their hands. At that time Shweta Singh was fast asleep with her two children. These two youths broke the lock, entered her residence and started trying to steal by breaking the cupboard.

When Shweta Singh woke up after hearing the sound, she got scared seeing those two youths inside her residence. Before she could shout and inform the people nearby. Those two youths came close to him, placed their guns on his forehead and started threatening to kill him and his children. Following this, both the youths threatened the woman and threatened to hand over all the valuables and cash kept in the house. The robbers searched the cupboard for 15 minutes and then seized Rs 50,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh. After recovering the money and jewellery, they fled.

If she had protested against the robbery, she would have hurt her children: female victim

Naturally, Shweta Singh is very scared about this accident. She said that her husband is not at home. She lives in the house with her two small children. In such a situation, two youths come to her house at 3 am and without any restraint or fear, they steal and take away jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh. Shweta Singh said that if she had protested, both the criminals could have hurt her and her children. She said that it is the job of the railway management to ensure the safety of railway employees and their families living in railway accommodations. But as such incidents happen every day in railway accommodations, the people living in them are very scared.

Due to the incident, there is an atmosphere of fear among the residents of the railway quarters. Railway workers say that every day some incident occurs in the railway quarter. There is a rule of regular patrolling by the Railway Police to ensure the safety of the railway quarters. But, the way such incidents continually occur in the railway quarters, a question arises about the preparedness of the RPF.
