In India, buying vegetables from a nearby sabzi market seems incomplete without the “complimentary” dhaniya (coriander leaves) that accompanies it. We agree that most of you will relate to this sentiment! Taking a cue from the same, Blinkit has recently introduced the same practice to make the online delivery platform even more approachable for everyone. You read that right! Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce the news and added that they will be perfecting the feature in the coming weeks.
“It’s live! Please everyone thank Ankit’s mom. We will improve the feature in the coming weeks,” he posted, along with a screenshot of a Blink cart, showing dhaniya listed as ‘free gift’ along with the ordered vegetables.

The development came after an X user named Ankit Sawant shared his dismay in a post, mentioning that his mother was unhappy after having to pay for coriander leaves, along with the vegetables she ordered on BlinkAnkit further tagged Albinder Dhindsa in the post and shared his mother’s idea of a ‘free dhaniya’ when buying vegetables through the grocery delivery platform.
“Mom had a minor heart attack because she had to pay for dhaniya at Blinkit. @albinder: Mom suggests you should pair it with a certain amount of veggies for free,” the post read.

It seems that Blinkit’s CEO was quick to take the suggestion into consideration and it attracted enough attention on the Internet. In less than 24 hours, the post has garnered around 683,000 views, over 9,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
“This dhaniya upgrade is worth $1 billion in market cap. Close 5% higher tomorrow,” read one comment.
Another person wrote: “Definitely one of the most impressive uses of social media (X specifically) and a quick implementation by the company. We’re betting big on Zomato and Blinkit!”
A third comment read: “Wow… the speed of execution…” Another person wrote: “I love the speed of execution!” One comment read: “Dude! Seriously, this is amazing.”
“That applies to literally every mom out there, but thanks! Mine would be happy too,” one user wrote.
