Every year on the fourth Sunday of September, Daughter’s Day is celebrated. This day is a reminder to pause, reflect, and honor the special and invaluable relationships parents share with your daughters.

While all parents share a special bond with their daughters, science says the mother-daughter bond is the strongest of all.

According to a study published in The Journal of Neurosciences, the mother-daughter relationship is the strongest of all parent-child relationships. The study shows that many mood disorders are also passed on from mothers to daughters. Scientists performed MRI scans on 35 healthy families and found that mothers and daughters have similar anatomy when it comes to the part of the brain that regulates emotions.

That’s why mothers and daughters are more likely to understand each other’s emotions than any other family member. That’s why mother-daughter duos also shine brighter because they share a bond that unites them through science and emotions.
