Emma Coronel Aispuro, the wife of the famous Mexican drug trafficker Joaquin”El Chapo“Guzmán will walk the catwalk for designer April Black Diamond in Milan today Fashion Week.
The 35-year-old will make her international modelling debut at the show, which will be held at the Palazzo Serbelloni, Napoleon’s former residence in Italy.
In a statement on Instagram, the designer wrote: “In a world where fashion “We often celebrate outer beauty, but we are dedicated to presenting a deeper, more meaningful narrative. Our upcoming show will not only highlight the garments on the runway, but will shine a light on the stories behind them. As a designer, I believe everyone deserves a second chance and fashion is the perfect platform to celebrate transformation, strength and resilience.”
She continued: “That’s why I made the brave decision to feature an extraordinary woman as the face of my collection: a woman who, despite a past clouded by controversy, has chosen to take control of her future. She is not just a role model for our designs; she is a symbol of strength, courage and hope. Her journey from a difficult past to a brighter future reflects the core message of this collection: it is never too late to transform your life, and every woman, regardless of her past, deserves the chance to walk forward with pride and confidence.”
“In November 2021, Aispuro was sentenced to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty to money laundering and conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana for importation into the United States. She was also ordered to pay nearly $1.5 million in fines,” ABC News previously reported. She was also accused of helping Guzman escape from Mexico’s Altiplano prison in 2015.
