Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that four villages in the state have been selected for the ‘Best Tourist Village’ award. The CMO released a statement in this regard and said that this initiative is aimed at establishing Uttarakhand as a premier tourist destination. “The drive to make Uttarakhand a tourist state is bearing fruit. For promoting rural tourism, four villages in the state will be conferred the Best Tourist Village Award in Uttarakhand.” International Tourism Day“the CMO said in a statement.

These villages are Jakholi in Uttarkashi, Harshil in Uttarkashi, Seeman Gunji in Pithoragarh and Soupi in Nainital. Each village has been recognised for its unique tourism offerings. While Jakhol has been chosen for its adventure tourism potential, Harshil and Seemant Gunji have been recognised as part of the Vibrant Village initiative. Soupi in Nainital will receive the award for promoting agro-tourism.

This is an annual competition organized by the Ministry of Tourism that rewards towns that contribute to the preservation of culture and natural heritage, foster community values ​​and lifestyles, and promote economic, social and environmental sustainability.

The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the villagers in getting this award. “The general public plays an important role in the development of tourism in the state. The state government is making all possible efforts to make Uttarakhand a tourist state, many plans have been put in place for this purpose, but this goal can be achieved only with the cooperation of the people of the state who are like God,” he said.
