The attacks in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah and in Ras Issa targeted oil infrastructure, the Israeli military said in a statement. Al-Masirah TV, controlled by the Houthis, said four people were killed and 33 wounded.
Residents said Israeli strikes hit fuel storage tanks at Hodeidah port and smoke was seen rising from the site.
The Yemen-based Houthis claimed responsibility for two missile attacks in the Tel Aviv area on Friday and Saturday. The missiles were intercepted by Israel’s air defenses.
During Saturday’s attack, the Houthis fired a long-range missile at Israel, saying they were targeting Ben Gurion Airport as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned from the United Nations General Assembly. Sirens sounded at the airport, but Israeli air defense shot down the missile over the Jerusalem area.
“The IDF is determined to continue operating at any distance, near or far, against all threats to the citizens of the State of Israel,” the Israel Defense Forces said. The attacks involved dozens of Israeli aircraft that traveled more than 1,800 kilometers (about 1,100 miles).
Israel’s attack on the south coincided with its campaign of airstrikes on northern Lebanon that have killed most of the leaders of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militia based in Beirut. More than 1,000 people have died in Lebanon and hundreds of thousands have been displaced by the bombings.
