He Maharastra The tourism department has introduced a fleet of 20 electric buses for tourists visiting Ajanta Caves, according to an official statement on Friday.
The departure of the first electric bus occurred on Friday to commemorate World Tourism Day. Buses will help visitors get from the parking lot to the cave complex.
Officials on e-bus service to Ajanta Caves
Deputy Director of the Maharastra Tourism Department Vijay Jadhav told PTI: “A fleet of 20 electric buses will cater to domestic and foreign tourists visiting the world heritage site. “Before, a conventional diesel bus circulated and tourists had to wait a long time for the vehicle to fill up.” He later announced the launch of a reservation system adapted to tourists. “The bus service will employ 32 people. The plan is to ensure that the service is available every two minutes,” he said.
With the new electric buses in operation, there will be no waiting time and commuters will be able to enjoy a pollution-free journey, he added.
“The fleet of 20 buses, with and without air conditioning, has a carrying capacity of 14 and 22 passengers. We expect the entire fleet to be operational by October 20. A film on the Ajanta Caves will be screened en route to give visitors an idea about the site,” he mentioned.
