The Indian cricket team is all set to return to action after a gap of 90 days, when it begins its two-match Test series against Bangladesh on September 19. This will be the first red-ball series that India will play under new head coach Gautam Gambhir. This will also be the first in a series of 10 Test matches that India will play for the rest of the year as they aim to secure a place in the final of the 2025 World Test Championship for the third consecutive time. It looks like India will be left out of the competition. KL Rahul in this two-match home test series.

According to a report by SportsTak, KL Rahul may not be included in the squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. It is also claimed that RISHABH PANTSwho has not played a single Test match since December 2022, will return to the team for the longest format after 634 days. Dhruv Jurel, who had a solid debut series against England, will be the reserve wicket-keeper batsman for the series.

A source close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also revealed that performances in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy are unlikely to have any impact on India’s team selection for the Test series against Bangladesh.

Sarfaraz Khan, who had a remarkable debut series against England earlier this year, is set to retain his place in the squad for the Bangladesh series.

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for the series, with Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar being the two guaranteed pace players in the squad. The third pace player’s spot is likely to be taken by either Akash Deep or Arshdeep Singh, who could be rewarded after their consistent performances in white-ball cricket for India.
