Tinder launches solo traveler’s guide to help Gen Z globetrotters make connections around the world

Dating platform Tinder is introducing a travel guide for solo travelers in partnership with self-employed backpacker hostel chain The Hosteller. The “Traveler’s Guide to Tinder Passport” is said to be specially designed for Generation Z globetrotters to help them make connections around the world.

It’s no surprise that traveling is Tinder’s top interest for the young demographic of Generation Z. A recent survey by Tinder revealed that 50% of 18-25 year olds in India believe that a shared love of travel It makes a couple even more attractive.

Mentions of “solo travel” in Tinder India profiles have increased 17-fold, and bios like “I love exploring new places, solo travel, cat mom” are becoming increasingly common, the company added.

The guide includes tips on how to select your profile, start conversations, and travel safely.

“Tinder Passport opens up endless possibilities,” says Papri Dev, VP of APAC Communications at Tinder. “Whether you’re looking for new friends, local tips, or just someone to have coffee with in a new city, this guide will help you make the most of your adventure.”

Tinder Passport Mode

Tinder’s updated Passport mode now appears directly in user profiles, allowing travelers to indicate their intentions to hook up before even arriving at their destination. Users can activate the mode, select a city, and start interacting with locals or fellow travelers before their trip.

Passport mode is a paid feature on the platform available as part of Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold, and Tinder Platinum subscriptions. Tinder also says it’s testing it as a standalone purchase.

“Using Passport mode before your trip is the best way to maximize its potential,” added Dev. “It allows you to make connections, gather local information, and create unforgettable memories before you even board your flight.”

Pranav Dangi, founder and CEO of The Hosteller, highlighted the growing trend of solo travel, noting that Generation Z and millennials are increasingly seeking self-discovery through travel. “Our lodges are designed to foster meaningful cultural connections, allowing adventurers to create lifelong memories,” he said. “Our partnership with Tinder expands this vision, offering solo travelers a resource to safely navigate India’s best backpacking destinations.”

Tinder users are encouraged to use features like Photo Verification and Share My Date to ensure safety when meeting new people abroad.
