He Tripura The Chakma Students Association (TCSA) has condemned the alleged attack on minorities in Bangladesh and urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Saturday, the TCSA said that “such atrocities are becoming more common in Bangladesh,” particularly against tribal communities, and demanded immediate action from both the Indian government and the international community.
Speaking to ANI, Amitab Chakma, a social activist, said, “In Bangladesh, there have been attacks on minorities, particularly Buddhists and Hindus. Indiscriminate arson has killed 79 people and over a hundred houses have been burnt down. Many women and children are still hiding in the jungle. The new government in Bangladesh has been completely ineffective, leading to this violence and arson. I request Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pay attention to this issue and take steps to protect minorities in Bangladesh.”
In addition, TCSA has made several urgent calls, including the immediate inclusion of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in India, an immediate end to the persecution of Hindu tribal and minority communities in Bangladesh, accountability for soldiers involved in the massacre, demand for capital punishment for those found guilty of genocide, and the reconstruction of Buddhist and Hindu temples destroyed by the Bangladeshi government.
The Bangladesh Army has appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony. “The current tension may lead to violent riots in the three hill districts. The leadership is urgently requested to assist the law enforcement agencies in de-escalating the current tension. Necessary legal action will be taken after identifying the real culprits through proper investigation. The people are especially requested to maintain peace and harmony in the three hill districts,” the Inter-Services Directorate of Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
