Over the years, WhatsApp has incorporated various Instagram functions. For example, the WhatsApp Status feature is inspired by Instagram Stories and the Channels feature is similar to Instagram Channels. Meta, the parent company of both platforms, aims to standardize features across its entire suite of applications. However, WhatsApp lacks a feature similar to Instagram Reels and Meta has not announced any plans to introduce such functionality. However, users can still enjoy fast and engaging videos by directly accessing Instagram.
Instagram Reels on WhatsApp
Step 1: Make sure the WhatsApp app version on Android phone or iPhone is up to date.
Step 2: Look for the Meta AI icon on the WhatsApp home screen. It is indicated by a blue and pink animated circle above the chats. Touch it.
Step 3: The Meta AI chatbot will open on the screen with a text box at the bottom, much like a normal chat screen.
Step 4: Enter a text message like “Show me Instagram Reels” and send it to the chatbot.
Step 5: WhatsApp will immediately display some reels in the chat that users can tap to view within the app.
In case a user wants to see Reels of a particular Instagram page or creator, they can add the name in the text message to see their most recent and popular Reels. It’s worth noting that WhatsApp will show a handful of Reels without endless scrolling like Instagram. This feature will only work if the user has enabled Meta AI on their WhatsApp. Another thing to remember is that Meta AI will not work unless the user has accepted the terms and conditions for chatting with businesses and bots on WhatsApp.
