In Bihar, students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC-ST) category will be given an incentive if they clear the competitive examination of dozens of services including banks, railways etc. The SC-ST Social Welfare Department has made a new provision in this regard under the Chief Minister’s Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Civil Services Incentive Scheme. Earlier, students from SC-ST category were given incentives only under the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) and Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Combined Competitive Examination (Preliminary). The new provision will increase enthusiasm among students from SC-ST categories to achieve success in various competitive examinations.

According to the department, on passing more than a dozen exams, students from SC-ST categories will be given different amounts as incentives. Among these, if you succeed in Indian Engineering Service, Indian Economic Service, Indian Statistical Service, Joint Geoscientist etc of UPSC, you will get Rs 75 lakhs. Rs 50,000 for passing in Joint Defence Services (CDS), DSP in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and passing the first phase (written exam) of National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy. If successful, Rs 50,000 will be paid, if you succeed in Bihar Judicial Services Preliminary Examination, Rs 50,000 will be paid and for Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Civil Services Examination of other states, Rs 50,000 will be paid.

30,000/- on successful completion of Grade B preliminary examination of Reserve Bank, PO examination in State Bank and other commercial banks, Rs. 30,000/- for successful preliminary examination of Assistant Administrative Officer in Life Insurance Corporation of India, Combined Graduate Level Examination of Central Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi. Rs. 30,000/- will be awarded for preliminary examination and Rs. 30,000/- for successful completion of Technical and Graduate Level Preliminary Examination of Railway Recruitment Board.

The state government has extended the incentive scheme for the success of candidates appearing in the SC-ST category examination. This will increase the desire to achieve success among a large number of candidates from this category.
