Manisha Koirala’s career

Manisha Koirala started her acting career with Nepali films. She played a small role in the 1989 Nepali film ‘Pheri Bhetula’, but made her Bollywood debut with the Rajkumar and Dilip Kumar starrer ‘Saudagar’ (1992). In this, her song ‘Ilu Ilu’ was much liked, after which she came to be known as ‘Ilu Ilu Girl’. After this she did not look back.

She worked in ‘1942 A Love Story’. She also appeared in the films ‘Bombay’, ‘Agni Sakhi’, ‘Gupt’, ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Dil Se’ and ‘Mann’. She gave many successful films on the Bollywood screen but after some time the films started failing and she went into depression. Due to depression, he became addicted to alcohol which also affected his career. Many big producers and directors started avoiding working with him.

Manisha had knocked on the court door to save her honour.

She was out of work in the year 2002. Meanwhile, director Shashilal K Nair offered her a film which had many bold scenes. The story of the film was about a teenager who falls in love with a girl older than him and is ready to do anything to get her. Due to lack of work, Manisha said yes to this film. The film was a small love story. When Manisha saw the print of the film after the shooting was over, she was shocked. It is alleged that Nair, hiding it from Manisha, did many bold and bed scenes with his body double.

The actress felt that if this film was released, it would tarnish her reputation. To save her honour, she went to court to stop the release of the film. Though the release was not stopped, what happened was beyond the actress’s imagination. People highly appreciated the film and Manisha’s work.

Manisha Koirala received awards

Manisha was born on 16 August 1970 in Kathmandu, Nepal. She is the daughter of Prakash Koirala and granddaughter of former Prime Minister of Nepal Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala. She did her early schooling at Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi. She lived with her maternal grandmother in Varanasi, after which she came to Delhi for further studies and got admitted to the Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan.

During this period, she also received many modelling offers, thus increasing her inclination towards acting. Apart from Hindi, she has also worked in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Nepali and English films. She won many major awards including 4 Filmfare awards.
