Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a big gift to sports lovers of Purvanchal in his parliamentary constituency before Diwali. During his visit to Varanasi on October 20, he is proposed to inaugurate Phases 2 and 3 of the National Center of Excellence Stadium at Dr. Sampurnanand Stadium in Sigra.

PM has inaugurated Phase 1 in 2023. The construction of the stadium will give players of more than 20 sports an opportunity to showcase their talent on the international platform. The Dr. Sampurnanand Sigra Sports Stadium has been redeveloped at a cost of Rs 325.65 million. The stadium building is built according to GRIHA standard.

UP is becoming a better sports hub under Modi-Yogi’s leadership

Uttar Pradesh is becoming a sports hub under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In addition to improving the game infrastructure, players also have a good environment. This has also increased the number of medals in international matches. With the construction of this stadium, more international players will emerge from the soil of Purvanchal. A modern multi-level, multi-sport indoor stadium has been built in Kashi. Smart City Chief General Manager Dr D Vasudevan said the redevelopment of Dr Sampurnanand Sigra Sports Stadium has been done in three phases at a cost of over Rs 325.65 crore. The stadium will have both indoor and outdoor facilities.

The first phase was built with Rs 109.36 million.

Purvanchal players will now be able to watch international matches in Varanasi itself. The sports complex also has facilities such as a gym, spa, yoga centre, billiards and a banquet hall with a cafeteria. The modern, multi-level multi-sports indoor stadium has also been designed keeping the standards in mind. Parasports competitions can also be held here. The first phase was constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 109.36 crore. The second and third phases were constructed for approximately Rs 216.29 million.

Phase-2 -G Plus 2, Phase-3

(Shooting Sports) 10 meter range 50 bays, 25 meter range 25 bays, G+3- Combat Sports Boxing, Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Wushu, Kicking, Sports Science Center, Fencing, Boxing , Wrestling, -G Plus Locker Room with Field View Cricket Practice Ground, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, 8 Bay Athletics Track 400 Meters, Tennis Court, Amphi Theatre, Walking and Running Track, Building hostel (G+4) – 180 beds, coach accommodation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspires players to ‘bring medals, get positions’. The yogi government is also giving a good amount of money as reward to the players who get medals. Now other states are also setting the example of yogi governance in sports. CM Yogi has significantly increased the facilities here by providing a conducive environment for sports in Uttar Pradesh. Because of this, the morale of the poor players is also increasing. Players have the opportunity to play on international standard equipment and fields. This will also be beneficial in international matches. Varanasi is the center of Purvanchal. An international standard stadium here will prove to be a boon for Purvanchal.
