The Railway Recruitment Board has increased the number of posts for recruitment of Technicians by a huge amount. Railways has increased 5,154 posts in this recruitment. Earlier, this recruitment was done for 9,144 posts. But now this recruitment will be done for 14,298 posts. The recruitment notification for 9,144 vacant posts of Railway Technician was issued on March 9. Applications were accepted till April 8. Railways has said that candidates who have applied will be given an opportunity to change their RRB option. Also, preference will be given to various categories of posts within the already selected RRB along with preference for Zonal/Workshop/PU Railways within the selected RRB. The link to change the preferences will be released soon on the official websites of all the RRBs and will remain open for 15 days.

Educational qualifications and Medical and PWBD standards are different for some new categories of posts added for Workshop and PU as per CEN No. 02/2024, so new eligible candidates have an opportunity to apply as per CEN No. 02/2024. The link to submit online application for new eligible candidates will be available soon on the official websites of all RRBs for a period of 15 days.

The exam will be conducted in a single phase.

This time there will be only one job in RRB Technician Recruitment. This is a big relief for the applicants. In the year 2018, when the recruitment of 26000 ALP Technicians was published, a two-stage CBT exam was conducted for the post of Technician.

Technical Grade: CBT I Exam Pattern

The time will be of 90 minutes and there will be 100 questions. To qualify, unreserved category candidates will need to score 40%, OBC candidates will need to score 30%, SC candidates will need to score 30% and ST candidates will need to score 25%. There will be 10 questions each from General Awareness, 15 from General Intelligence and Reasoning, 20 from Basic Computer Science and Applications, 20 from Mathematics, 35 from Basic Science and Engineering. Each question will carry one mark.

Technical Grade – III – CBT exam pattern

The time will be 90 minutes and there will be 100 questions. To qualify, unreserved category candidates will need to score 40%, OBC candidates will need to score 30%, SC candidates will need to score 30% and ST candidates will need to score 25%. There will be 10 questions each from General Awareness, 25 from Intelligence and General Reasoning, 25 from Mathematics and 40 from General Science. Each question will carry one mark.

There will be negative grading in CBT. One third of a point will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
