Currently, there are no opportunities for women in only two types of recruitment. If sources are to be believed, in future these two avenues might also be opened for women. The first batch of women officers will emerge from the Army through NDA after completing four years of training in 2026. Three other types of recruitment are in the form of direct officers. These include the UPSC Graduate Scheme, which is also called SSC Non-Technical. Through this, 12 women officers are recruited every year. Similarly, four women officers are recruited in the Non-UPSC Graduate Recruitment Scheme. This scheme is also called SSC NCC. In this, it is necessary to have C certificate from NCC. Apart from this, 20 women officers are recruited in the army every year through the Graduate Technical Entry Scheme.

The fifth way for women to enter the army as Agniveer is recruitment as Agniveer. Currently, recruitment of women firefighters has only been started in the Military Police. The above five types of recruitment are also done equally for men. There are two more entry points for men, one of which is service entry.

Female officers are no longer a challenge in the army

When women cadets joined the army through NDA, there were challenges related to accommodation etc. which were overcome. Since women are not employed as soldiers in the army, unlike in paramilitary forces, there are no other challenges. Women soldiers in the army are only part of the military police and are not deployed in difficult locations.

Opportunity also possible in the Territorial Army.

The recruitment of women into the military police is not very old. But in the future women will also be able to have recruitment opportunities through this route. The Territorial Army (TA) is a route for men to join the army that is not yet open to women. The Ministry of Defence is also receiving applications for recruitment of women through this route. In the future, women will also be able to be recruited into the army through TA.
