25 thousand vacant teaching positions in secondary schools, demand to declare TGT PGT exam date

More than 25,000 posts of teachers are lying vacant in 4,512 aided secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh. There is an acute shortage of expert teachers in subjects ranging from Hindi, English to Mathematics, Science and other subjects. This has affected the education of children. This is the reason why there has been a decline in the results of UP Board 10th and 12th examinations in aided schools. These things were said by Sohan Lal Verma, state president of the United Secondary School Teachers Association of Uttar Pradesh, at the provincial functionaries’ meeting at BNLal Vocational Inter College, Alambagh, on Thursday. The organisation has warned that if the date of TGT and PGT recruitment examination is not announced two years ago, it will protest to the Commission.

Education Directorate sent details of vacant teachers to the government

State president of the Uttar Pradesh Secondary School Teachers’ Association (Ekjut), Sohanlal Verma, said that the Directorate of Education has recently sent the details of vacant teacher posts in aided schools in the state to the government. According to this, out of the 70,803 sanctioned posts of assistant teachers in the state, 20,999 posts are vacant. While out of the 22,220 sanctioned posts of spokespersons, 4,703 posts are vacant. Out of the 4,512 posts of headmasters and principals, 2,833 posts are vacant. The organisation is demanding from the government that like teachers, recruitment to the posts of headmasters should be done through written examinations and interviews.

The Commission should announce the dates of the examinations.

Two years ago, the government had released a recruitment advertisement for 4,163 posts of TGT and PGT. The date of their written examination has not been announced yet. More than 13 lakh candidates had appeared for both the examinations. The responsibility of recruitment of teachers in these schools has been vested in the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. Even after a year of formation of the Commission, the dates of the written examination have not been released. These candidates are making rounds in the Commission. The organisation will protest in front of the commission. State patron Dr Har Prakash Yadav, state spokesperson Shravan Kumar, senior vice-president Upendra Verma, treasurer Vijendra Kumar, state minister Sandeep Shukla and all the officials including Surendra Singh were present in the meeting.
