Anakapalli: The death toll in the reactor explosion that took place on Wednesday afternoon has risen to 17. The reactor exploded at a pharmaceutical company in Andhra Pradesh StateOn Wednesday, Anakapalli is located in a residential area. Special economic zone (SEZ). Firefighters rushed to the scene to douse the fire. “The factory is functioning with 381 employees in two shifts. The explosion took place during lunch hour, so the presence of staff was less,” Vijaya Krishnantold, district revenue collector, Anakapalli, told PTI.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the loss of lives. The Chief Minister assured that the government will support the families of the deceased workers, according to an official press release.

Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi will reach the spot shortly. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister will pay a visit on Thursday morning.

Escientia Advanced Sciences, which manufactures chemical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), started production in April 2019 with an investment of Rs 200 crore.
