Chhattisgarh News: Four people from the same family, including an 11-month-old baby, were allegedly murdered on suspicion of witchcraft in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday. Police officials said that the police arrested three suspects from the village in the murder case. Among those arrested, the man and his two sons were detained by the police. The police are questioning the accused over the incident.
Police arrested three defendants
Police said the incident took place on Thursday evening at Chharchhed village under Kasdol police station area. The deceased have been identified as Chaitram Kaivartya, his two sisters Jamuna and Yashoda and Jamuna’s 11-month-old son Yash. Police have arrested accused Ramnath Patel and his two sons in this case.
Villagers told the police that Patle’s daughter had been ill for some time and her relatives suspected that her illness was a result of witchcraft practiced by Chaitram’s mother. Officials said information was received that the accused entered Chaitram’s house today and attacked him with a sharp weapon and a hammer due to which all four of them died on the spot. He said that during the attack Chaitram’s mother was not at home and had gone somewhere with her other son. He said that the police have registered the case and are investigating.
