5 B.Tech courses closed in Delhi Government College, BJP says: Kejriwal’s education model exposed, Career News

Delhi Skill Development University of the Government of Delhi has closed B.Tech branches in all its three campuses due to low student intake. There were less than 20 students in these branches of the B.Tech course, so the university decided to close the departments in its campuses at Ashok Vihar, Pusa-I and Okhla Phase II. Delhi Skill Development University (DSEU) has asked the affected students to choose another branch or any other campus where there are seats available in that branch.

As per the order, the Civil Engineering branch and Mechanical Engineering branch of B.Tech at DSEU Ashok Vihar Aryabhatta campus, Electrical Engineering branch at DSEU Pusa-I campus and Network Engineering branch and Mechatronics Engineering branch at DSEU Okhla-II campus have been closed. The Civil Engineering branch was functioning with 11 students, Mechanical Engineering branch with 8 students, Electrical Engineering branch with 11 students, Network Engineering branch with 9 students and Mechatronics Engineering branch with 10 students.

According to the Admission Board order, B.Tech branches having less than 20 students will be closed in the respective campus. “Students of the following branches will be offered to choose any other branch or campus as per their consent, subject to availability of seats in that branch,” the September 2 order said.

DSEU Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar Nagawat said that these programmes have been discontinued due to poor response from students in these B.Tech courses. “If students do not wish to continue their studies in our other branches, we will refund the entire admission fee paid by the students, including the registration fee,” he said.

The BJP attack

On the closure of the B.Tech course, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta came down heavily on the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government. He said that in 2020, the AAP government had established DSEU. Now the fake education model of this Kejriwal government has come to the fore. It is a shame that the B.Tech course, which is usually one of the most sought-after courses, has not been able to attract even 20 students. The education of students has been affected due to the shortage of teachers on DSEU campuses.” Gupta said that this failure exposes the truth of Kejriwal’s education revolution, which is actually a huge fraud.

He also alleged that students were forcibly moved to other campuses.

In response, the Aam Aadmi Party highlighted the performance of BJP governments in the states. “It is shameful that even after more than 20 years of BJP rule in Gujarat, there is only one teacher in 1,606 schools,” the AAP claimed in a recent video from BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh, in which girls are seen crying because there is no teacher in their school.”
