ClayCo Cosmetics, a 6-month-old skincare startup, raises Rs 16 crore from Unilever Ventures

Six-month-old skincare brand ClayCo Cosmetics has raised $2 million (or around Rs 16 crore) in a Series A. funds round from Unilever Ventures, the venture capital and private equity division of Unilever.

The newly launched startup plans to use the raised capital to scale its operations, improve its product offerings and intensify marketing efforts.

The investment would also help launch a Moroccan-inspired body care range, allowing the brand to diversify its portfolio beyond its current selections.

ClayCo Cosmetics aims to intensify its customer engagement initiatives, drive research and innovation, and strengthen its marketing strategies to appeal to a broader audience.

“We are delighted to partner with Unilever Ventures, a pioneer in the beauty industry,” said Niharika Jhunjhunwala, Founder of ClayCo Cosmetics.

“Their support aligns perfectly with our long-term goals. This funding will allow us to improve brand awareness, introduce new products, invest in R&D and drive our growth. As consumers become more aware of ingredients such as fermented rice, ginseng and CICA, are willing to invest in high-quality and effective skin care products,” added Jhunjhunwala.

ClayCo Cosmetics Offers

Founded in March 2024, ClayCo Cosmetics combines ancient beauty rituals with modern science. The brand’s flagship collection, Rituals of Japan, includes products such as Rice and Sake Sleep Mask, Sake Glass Glow Essence, and Azuki Beans & Koji Rice Foam Cleanser.

These formulations combine traditional Japanese ingredients with advanced skin care technology, providing consumers with high-performance products that are luxurious and affordable.

ClayCo aims to provide affordable luxury, combining natural ingredients with high-performance formulations. It sells its products through its own e-commerce platform and major online marketplaces.
