Maniza Talash, Afghanistan’s first female breakdancer, participated in the Paris Olympics 2024 as a member of the Refugee Olympic Team. During her breaking routine, she tried to draw the world’s attention to the plight of women under Taliban rule by writing ‘Free Afghan women’ in big white letters on her light blue scarf.
However, Manija was disqualified for violating the strict rules of the Paris Olympics. She was competing against India Sardojo of the Netherlands, but she had to pay the price for her efforts.
