APL Apollo Tubes Q1: Profit remains flat, revenue rises 9.5%

APL Apollo Tubes released its first quarter results on August 10. The company’s profit remained stable while revenue increased by 9.4% compared to last year. EBITDA fell by 2% and margins saw a decline. The company’s profit stood at Rs 193.2 crore, compared to Rs 193.6 crore in the same quarter last year. However, profit increased by 13% compared to the previous quarter.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at ₹301.6 crore, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 2% but an increase of 8% compared to the March quarter. EBITDA per tonne was at ₹4,183, showing a year-on-year decline of 10% but a percentage increase over the March quarter.

The company’s revenue stood at Rs 4,974 crore, up 9.4% year-on-year and 8% higher compared to the March quarter. During the three-month period, the company’s margins were 6%, down from 6.7% a year ago.

On Friday, August 9, the stock closed at ₹1,425, down 0.72%. The stock has gained 5.62% over the past six months and has gained over 6% so far in 2024.

The structural steel tube company previously reported record sales volume for the first quarter of the financial year. The company recorded its highest ever sales volume of 721,064 tonnes in the June quarter (Q1 FY25), surpassing the figures of 661,501 tonnes in the first quarter of FY24 and 678,556 tonnes in the fourth quarter of FY24.

The value-added segment’s contribution increased 60%, marking an increase from 57% in Q1FY24, and demonstrates the company’s commitment to its decommoditization strategy, the company told the exchanges in a filing.
