The shooting of all Tamil films will be stopped from November 1, the Tamil Film Producers Council decided at a meeting held in Chennai. The council also decided that no new films will be started after August 16. The decision was taken due to an increasing backlog of films that are stuck at various stages of making. They also plan to control the rising cost of production due to remuneration of artists and other expenses.

A meeting was held in Chennai in which representatives of Tamil Film Producers Council, Tamil Film Producers Association, Tamil Nadu Cinema Owners Association, Tamil Nadu Multiplex Owners Association and Tamil Nadu Film Distributors Association participated. Following are the resolutions that were passed during the meeting.

It was noted at the meeting that many actors and technicians leave projects after receiving advance payments from producers. This practice has caused significant losses. It was decided at the meeting that actors and technicians should complete the project before moving on to a new one.

The Board specifically named Dhanush during the meeting and asked the producers to approach the board before signing the actor for new projects. In 2023, Sri Thenandal Films claimed that Dhanush had received an advance from them and had never gone for the shoot.

The press release read, “In the situation where Dhanush has received advance payments from several producers, the producers are requested to consult the Tamil Film Producers Association before starting work on any new films starring actor Dhanush.”
