Schools will have to send reports online until 8 p.m.

Kolkata: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has issued a circular to decide the parameters required for the examination for the session 2024-25. In this regard, the attention of schools has been drawn to some important and appropriate provisions. In the information issued by the Council, it is said that in schools where examination centres are set up, the examination coordinators should also check whether the steel cupboard where the examination material is kept in the headmaster’s room is under CCTV surveillance or not. And whether the cupboard has double locking system or not. The board that conducts the ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) examinations has sent a list of criteria to the conveners to check whether a school is suitable to become an examination centre next year. The parameters decided include the number of existing rooms, the rooms that the school proposes to use for the examination, the seating capacity of each room or hall and whether each room or hall is equipped with CCTV cameras. It has been asked to look into it. The CISCE has laid down the parameters for inspection of examination centres. The council circular says that the conveners should also check whether there is a double locking system in the cupboard in the headmaster’s room or not. Does the school provide cupboards for storing question papers? As per the listed specifications, the Convener will have to inspect all the schools proposed to become examination centres. After the inspection of each school is over, the Conveners have been asked to submit their details and report. After the inspection, the Conveners will have to submit an online report to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The report will have to be submitted by August 20. The Conveners will also have to check whether there is drinking water and toilet facilities near the examination hall. In the case of ISC, the Conveners will have to check whether the school has separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Home Science and Biotechnology and whether they are adequately equipped. They will also have to see whether the school has a computer lab or not and how many computers are available for the candidates. An exam coordinator for the board said that this inspection and sending such a detailed report to the board is something new. Generally, we used to inspect schools during exams. The board has said that candidates and teachers should remain under CCTV surveillance throughout the exam. CCTV footage should be kept safe until the result is published. Schools should have CCTV coverage in the exam halls and have been asked to make arrangements to preserve the recordings.
