In a disturbing incident, a 23-year-old employee of Third Wave Coffee in Bangalore She was caught after a woman discovered a cell phone hidden in the establishment’s bathroom.
The employee, identified as Manoj, was working at the popular cafe on BEL Road in Bengaluru.
The incident came to light when a customer, who was present at the establishment, took to Instagram to share the shocking experience.
On the Instagram story, the user named “gangsofcinepur,” revealed: “A woman found a phone in the bathroom, hidden in the trash can, with the video recording on for about 2 hours, in front of the toilet seat. It was on airplane mode so it wouldn’t make any sound, and was carefully hidden in the trash can bag which had a hole cut in it so only the camera was exposed. It was quickly discovered that the phone belongs to one of the men who works there. The police were called and arrived soon enough, and action is being taken. It was very horrifying to witness this.”
Police arrest an employee
Following the discovery, the police were immediately notified and arrived at the spot to investigate. The police arrested Manoj, confiscated his mobile phone and confirmed that he had used it to record videos for approximately two hours.
The accused, a resident of Bhadravathi, had been working at Third Wave Coffee for some time and authorities are now investigating whether he had recorded similar videos in the past.
Responding to the incident, Third Wave Coffee said: “We regret the unfortunate incident at our BEL Road outlet in Bengaluru and would like to emphasize that this type of action is absolutely unacceptable at Third Wave Coffee. We acted quickly to address the situation by immediately terminating the individual and ensuring the safety of our customers.”
Management also stressed its commitment to customer safety, stating: “The safety and wellbeing of our customers is always our priority. The cafe has a strict zero tolerance policy and the individual involved at the BEL Road store has been immediately dismissed and necessary legal action has been taken.”
