Co-directed by Angela Patton and Natalie Rae, the film took more than eight years to make as the directors gained the trust of the mothers, daughters and incarcerated men.
Finally, Sydney Sweeney’s nun thriller “Immaculate” debuts on Hulu on Friday, August 16. Sweeney produced and also stars in the film, playing a young American nun, Cecilia, who has decided to join an Italian convent where she will help care for elderly and dying nuns. The beauty of the new surroundings is just a facade, of course, and she begins to uncover some sinister goings-on within the ancient walls.
Also coming to Netflix on Thursday is Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg’s “The Union,” an action comedy about a construction worker who finds himself drawn into the world of espionage by an old high school girlfriend. The synopsis teases: “Knowing he’s the right man for the job, she recruits Mike on a dangerous intelligence mission in Europe that brings them back together in a world of spies and high-speed car chases, with sparks flying along the way.”
