Second-hand shops are often considered a budget option for those who cannot afford to buy luxury items, although the quality of the products can be questionable. A woman from Winnipeg, Canada, thought she had bought an authentic Hermes bag from a local second-hand shop for about $7 (Rs 587).
However, upon closer inspection at home, she discovered that the bag was defective and counterfeit.
Hermes handbags are among the most expensive in the world. Depending on the model and features, they can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and start at $10,000.
In a video posted by a social media user, the woman is seen looking at handbags in a nearby second-hand store when she suddenly spots a red leather bag that she thinks looks very familiar. Ashlee then opens the bag and immediately notices that it says Hermes on the tag. She seems completely bewildered, considering that the bag cost just under ₹840 approximately. “It’s a Hermes. It has a small stain on the front, but it’s not a big deal,” she says in the video.
Later, she realized it was a fake. “This bag, unfortunately, turned out to be fake; it was made of genuine leather and looked to be of good quality. But I had already found authentic Louis Vuitton and Chanel bags in second-hand stores,” she said.
“You never know what amazing things you might find! It’s a great way to update your wardrobe and furnish your home on a budget, and it’s a great way to make extra money selling on Facebook Marketplace or eBay,” she said.
According to Madison Avenue Couture, the designer produces only a limited number of Hermes bags to ensure their exclusivity.
