NEET PG 2024: Student shouts “Open the door!” after being denied entry due to 2-minute delay

NEET PG 2024: Chaos as student is denied entry for being 2 minutes late and shouts ‘Open the gate!’

The National Eligibility and Postgraduate Entrance Test (NEET) 2024 was held in two shifts at various centres across the country on Sunday. Recently, a video of an aspirant being denied entry into an examination centre for arriving just two minutes late has gone viral on social media. The viral clip shows a girl crying and pleading with the authorities to open the gate of the examination centre after arriving just two minutes late. In the video, she can be seen continuously banging on the door while crying. The video was shared on microblogging site X by user Suraj PB, who wrote, “CHAOS AT NEET PG CENTRE: A PG aspirant’s dream was shattered as she was not allowed to enter the examination centre. The gate closing time was 8:30 but the girl reached at 8:32 and was denied entry due to her misunderstanding about the entry gate, which was not mentioned.”

The video has sparked mixed reactions, with several sympathising with the student and saying that a two-minute delay should not have been a major issue. Others argue that the rules are clearly stated on the admission card and the girl should have planned her journey accordingly.

228,540 candidates were presented

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on Sunday successfully conducted the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (Post Graduate) (NEET PG) at 416 centres across 170 cities, with a total of 228,540 candidates taking part. The NBEMS, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, issued admit cards to all 228,540 candidates. The candidates were allotted examination centres within their respective states wherever possible, news agency ANI reported.

To ensure smooth and safe conduct of NEET PG, NBEMS has set up a central command centre at its Dwarka office in Delhi.

Union Health Ministry, NBEMS officials and their teams closely monitored the screening process.

Over 1,950 independent evaluators and 300 mobile team members were deployed at the examination centres to monitor the conduct of NEET PG.
