Former president Donald Trump On Monday, he made a notable return to X (formerly Twitter), marking his first post on the platform in nearly a year. His return comes as he prepares for a highly anticipated live interview with X owner Elon Musk.
Trump’s initial post included a promotional image for the upcoming interview with Musk, scheduled for 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The photo, which featured a collage of Trump and Musk with the headline “Donald J. Trump and Elon Musk Live on X,” was accompanied by a winking face emoji and the caption “Enjoy!”
Earlier in the day, Trump shared a campaign ad titled “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” The 2.5-minute ad was posted without a caption, but quickly gained significant traction, racking up more than 4.8 million views, 50,000 reposts, and 21,000 comments within an hour.
This is Trump’s second post on X since his account was reinstated following its suspension following the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021. His first post after reinstatement was on August 24, 2023, which featured his mugshot from Fulton County, Georgia.
Trump also shared a 34-second MAGA video, in which he declared: “This is the final battle. With you by my side we will demolish the deep state, we will drive the warmongers out of our government. We will drive the globalists out. We will drive the communists out.” The video concludes with a call to action, urging viewers to “Join President Trump’s fight for America. Text Trump to 88022.”
The campaign ads, which have circulated on Trump’s other social media platforms, come just hours before his live interview with Elon Musk on X. Musk has described the conversation as potentially “very entertaining” and invited users to submit questions and comments in the stream’s chat. Musk also announced plans to conduct system scaling tests in preparation for the interview.
The live interview with Musk is expected to be a no-holds-barred, unscripted discussion.
