Students must develop their creativity: Minister of Health

Rourkela. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Mukesh Mahaling on Monday inaugurated the one-day Geology Exhibition organised by the Government Autonomous College, Rourkela at the college campus. He wished the students all the best in developing their creativity. The college further expressed hope that through the study of Geology for the newly graduated batch, the students will get job opportunities in the mines of Sundargarh district. Under the supervision of the college president Prof Dr Vijay Kumar Behera and under the chairmanship of the head of the department Dr Smritisnigdha Mishra, the graduating students gave various exhibitions on various topics related to geology. In these, various minerals and their uses, origin and condition of rivers, different types of landforms of India etc. were displayed through models.

The five best models were awarded prizes

The jury selected the five best models from the exhibition and awarded them. Shiv Prasad Mohanty, Head, Department of Geology, Government College, Sundergarh and Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, Professor, Department of Geography, Government Autonomous College, Rourkela, participated as judges. Among the departmental professors, Dr. Sanuprabha Mahapatra, Shivani Lenka, Bhagyashree Naik and Dr. Devashish Singh played an important role in managing all the programmes. Raghunathpali MLA Durga Charan Tanti, Rourkela MLA Sharda Prasad Nayak and others were present during the inauguration of the exhibition.

Awareness demonstration on AIDS prevention opens

Odisha Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Mukesh Mahalinga cut the ribbon to inaugurate an AIDS awareness rally from the Government Hospital, Rourkela on Monday. Rourkela MLA Sharda Prasad Nayak, Raghunathpali MLA Durgacharan Tanti, Additional District Magistrate Ashutosh Kulkarni and officials of IGH were present on the occasion. This rally started from the Government Hospital, Rourkela and ended at the Government Autonomous College, Panposh. It may be noted that through the Odisha State AIDS Control Committee (Ausax) under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, it has been decided to create awareness in the state about AIDS prevention and organize programmes like folk dances etc. In this regard, OSAKS has so far formed 700 Red Ribbon Clubs in various universities with the help of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and in joint collaboration with the Red Cross Society.
