Many districts of Rajasthan are battling the rains and floods. Most of the devastation is visible in Karauli and Sawai Madhopur. Many residential areas of Karauli appear submerged in water. The rain has also lashed the upmarket areas of Jaipur. Now people have given up on the rain but there is no hope of relief for the time being.

Eight people died in rain-related incidents in Rajasthan on Monday, taking the death toll in the last two days to 22. According to the Met Department, heavy rainfall is likely to continue in the eastern part of the state for the next four to five days. For today, the Met Department has forecast intermittent light to moderate rainfall at some places and heavy rainfall at some places in Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Tonk and Didwana (Nagaur) districts. The Met Department has issued an orange alert for these districts.

Due to this, there is a possibility of waterlogging in low lying areas and there is a possibility of sudden rise in water in rivers or storm drains. At the same time, there is a possibility of traffic being affected due to waterlogging on roads or underpasses. Apart from this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in Bhilwara, Nagaur, Churu, Bharatpur, Alwar, Nagaur, Sikar, Karauli, Admer and Bundi districts. Let us tell you that heavy rainfall over the last two days has created a flood-like situation in Karauli and Hindaun where severe flooding has occurred in low lying areas and normal life has been disturbed due to overflowing of dams and rivers.

Schools remained closed on Monday in Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Dausa and Karauli due to warnings of heavy rain. The rain disrupted normal life in the capital Jaipur where roads were submerged and traffic jams were reported across the city. Jaipur Meteorological Centre spokesperson said heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue in parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota and Ajmer divisions in eastern Rajasthan for the next four to five days.

25 devotees trapped in temple rescued

Bhagwat Singh, Joint Secretary, Disaster Management Department, said, “A flood-like situation has arisen in Karauli and Hindaun towns and around 100 people have been evacuated to safe places by the NDRF and SDRF teams.” Twenty-five devotees trapped at the Trinetra Ganeshji temple in Ranthambore, Sawai Madhopur, were rescued by the SDRF team in an operation that began on Sunday night and ended on Monday morning.

8 people died on Monday

Meanwhile, bodies of five people who were swept away by the current in Jaipur’s Kanota dam on Sunday night were pulled out on Monday. Two more people drowned in Galata Kund while bathing and a 30-year-old man also died on Monday in Dausa after being swept away by the strong current of water in Moroli dam. Life has been affected due to continuous rains in many districts of Rajasthan, including the capital Jaipur.

40 percent more rain so far in August

From June 1 to August 12, Rajasthan recorded 40 per cent more than normal rainfall. During the same period, normal rainfall in the state has been 283.9 mm, which has increased to 397.8 mm this year. According to the Meteorological Department, western Rajasthan has recorded 56 per cent more than normal rainfall, while eastern Rajasthan has recorded 31 per cent more rainfall. Except Dungarpur and Banswara, almost all districts have recorded above normal rainfall.
