Kolkata: BJP candidate from Arambag Lok Sabha seat Arupkanti Digar has filed an election petition in the High Court alleging electoral fraud. He has appealed to cancel the Arambag elections. In this case, Justice Vibhas Ranjan Dey has served notice to all the parties. The next hearing of the case will be on September 25. On Monday, High Court Justice Vibhas Ranjan De, after hearing questions from the lawyers, directed the Registrar General of the High Court to serve notice to all the parties related to this case. Along with the Election Commission, the Registrar will also serve a notice to the victorious Trinamool candidate and MP Mithali Bagh. In this case, the court has directed the Election Commission to keep all the information and documents related to the Arambag elections safe. The High Court has said that all video footage of the election process must be preserved. In Arambag, Trinamool candidate Mithali Bagh won by just six thousand votes. The BJP candidate claimed in the petition that she did not agree with the manner in which the voting was conducted. It may be noted that the BJP candidates have also moved the Calcutta High Court challenging the election results of Ghatal, Basirhat, Cooch Behar and Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seats, the hearing of which is pending in the High Court.
