A video of a Tamil Nadu school football coach has gone viral on social media these days. In this, the coach is seen slapping and kicking the children of the school football team by holding their hair. He is angry with them for losing the match and is punishing them.
In the video, the student coach of the football team is sitting on the ground and the coach is hitting each of them while scolding them from the line. Sometimes he slaps, sometimes he kicks and sometimes he pulls someone’s hair. The crowd present around the players is seen watching the spectacle without saying anything.
At one point, the coach apparently asks one of the players, the goalkeeper, “Are you a woman?” NDTV reported. “How did you let him score?” He then asks the other, “How did you let the ball go through?” “I can’t play even under the slightest pressure.” He then hits one of them and says, “Why didn’t you communicate?” According to the news, the incident took place at a government-aided school near Mettur in Salem district in Tamil Nadu. The teacher accused of attacking his students has been identified as Annamalai.
People were outraged after seeing the viral video and many demanded strict action against the coach. One former user wrote, “He should be behind bars.” Another said, “Unfortunately, this is not the first incident bro. I still see young coaches cursing their players after a loss or a bad performance. Even when I was playing for my school team back in the days, my coach would humiliate each one of us after we lost the tournament. It still hurts to see this.”
A third posted: ‘Who is he? He should be banned from playing football.’ Meanwhile, a senior official at the district’s education department told the outlet: ‘We have suspended the teacher and will conduct a thorough investigation.’
