NEET UG 2024 Counselling: MCC Round 1 to begin tomorrow for admission to AIIMS, Central Universities, JIPMER and more

NEET UG Counselling 2024: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will begin the first round of counselling on August 14.

The counselling process will be conducted for 1,09,145 MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) and 27,868 BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) seats. Besides, around 1,000 BSc Nursing seats will be allotted through NEET counselling, besides several others in AYUSH and Veterinary courses across India.

The DGHS notice dated July 29 states, “It is informed that NEET UG counselling for the academic session 2024 is tentatively expected to commence from 14th August 2024. However, the registration process for the counselling may commence from the first week of August. Candidates are advised to keep in touch with the MCC website for updates regarding the schedule and subsequent counselling process.”

National Medical Commission (NMC) Secretary Dr B Srinivas said that the registration for the counselling process is likely to begin in the first week of August, he informed. The Hindu.

“The counselling will be held for allotment of around 1,10,000 MBBS seats in around 710 medical colleges across the country. Besides, counselling will be held for 21,000 BDS seats besides Ayush and nursing seats,” the NMC secretary was quoted as saying by the daily.

The Medical Commission will manage the counselling process for 15 per cent seats of All India Quota and 100 per cent seats of all AIIMS, all seats of Central Universities, JIPMER (Pondicherry) and 100 per cent seats of Deemed Universities.

On July 26th, The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the final results of the controversial medical entrance exam. exam held on May 5. The results were released after the Supreme Court dismissed a series of petitions, including those alleging document leaks and irregularities in the conduct of the exam.

Students who have cleared the NEET exam are eligible to apply for NEET UG 2024 counselling through the official website. The counselling will be conducted in several rounds to allot seats in MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and Veterinary courses.
