The government gave ₹244 crore in advance to the companies for laying the pipeline from the dam, which was never built – MP Govt gave Rs 244 crore as advance for building a water distribution channel from a to be constructed dam that was never built lcln

A big scam has been exposed in Madhya Pradesh. The Congress government in the state paid an advance of Rs 243.95 crore to companies for building a water distribution channel from a dam. The surprising thing is that this channel has not been built till date. The Shivraj Singh government of BJP, which came to power after Kamal Nath of Congress, also ignored the advance amount.

This is a case from Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh. aajtak According to the internal documents of the Water Resources Department, a joint venture of a Hyderabad-based company and M/s Patel Engineering was awarded the contract by the then Kamal Nath government in 2019. In the same year, an advance amount of Rs 243.95 crore was released for the construction of the water distribution channel. This project is called the Gond Major Irrigation Project and was to be completed by March 28, 2024. But from 2019 till date, not a single pipe has been laid on the ground and the construction of the dam has not started yet.

Rajendra Meshram, the sitting BJP MLA from Devsar in Singrauli district, asked a written question in the assembly regarding the progress of the project, but he too was not given any answer. MLA Meshram asked the Water Resources Minister in the Assembly:-

  • Has the tender process started for Gond Major Irrigation Project?
  • Is it true that despite the approval in 2019, nothing happened on the ground?
  • Is it right that nothing has happened even after five years of approval?
  • Will the guilty officials be punished and will any time frame be set for completing the project?

Meshram’s questions were not answered in the assembly, but he now claims that the new government has given the necessary approval and an NOC is being sought from the Union environment ministry.

The new government has approved it: BJP MLA

aajtak Talking to , MLA Meshram said, this was my dream project and in 2019, the then Kamal Nath government gave more than 200 crores in advance to a joint venture company. The company did nothing and the work could not start after the government fell. Now the new government has given approval and NOC is being taken.

their saying

Commenting on this project, senior journalist from Madhya Pradesh Arun Dixit said, this is a daylight robbery of the resources of the state, in which both Congress and BJP are involved. Congress released the advance amount in violation of all the conditions of the tender, which mentioned that the pipeline can be laid only after the dam construction reaches a certain level. Here the construction work of the dam never started and about Rs 244 crore was also released. On the other hand, the Shivraj Singh government, which came to power in the state after Congress’ Kamal Nath, also ignored the advance amount.
