The creators of Malayalam actor and writer Anoop MenonThe upcoming thriller drama Mate took to her social media on Tuesday, August 13 to post a new single from the film titled Naayo NaariyoComposed by Ratish Sekhar, the song features Harisankar KS and Keerthana Vijay on vocals, Ratish Sekhar on backing vocals and has lyrics by Joe Paul.
The song was released The film’s director Ratish Shekar released the song online via his official YouTube channel with the caption, “‘Naayo Nariyo’, a mesmerising song that delves into the journey of life, ambitions and the passage of time through evocative lyrics and enchanting music. Featuring the vocals of renowned singer #KS Harisankar and marking the debut of #KeerthanaVijay as a singer, this song promises to take you on an emotional and reflective journey of Jessy.”
An exciting journey with unexpected twists
A first look and poster of the film was recently released, featuring Anoop Menon and actor-director Lal’s characters, along with actors Rekha Harindran and Raji Arun. The post was shared on the makers’ official Instagram account with the caption, “First look of ‘Checkmate’! Get ready to be enthralled by the intense and captivating visuals of our upcoming Malayalam film ‘Checkmate’. A thrilling ride filled with suspense, drama and unexpected twists. (sic)”
Anoop Menon also shared the poster with the caption: “First look at the most expensive film of my career… shot entirely in New York and different parts of the US, this is the fruit of love of a bunch of super talented Malaysian Americans… let’s applaud the young and vibrant youth…”
The first poster with the tagline “Every move could be the last.” The poster indicates that the plot of the film is a journey through the complexities of the human mind, which are arranged and played like pieces on a chessboard.
The film was shot primarily in New York.
Checkmate, written, directed, cinematographically scored by Ratish Sekhar, has been primarily shot in New York. Apart from Anoop Menon, Lal, Rekha Harindran, Rajalakshmi and Anjali Mohanan, among others, play lead roles in the film. The technical crew comprises Prejish Prakash for editing, Swapneel Batra for production design and BK Harinarayanan, Dhanya Suresh Menon, Joe Paul and Vinayak Sasikumar as lyricists.
The film hit the big screens on August 9 to mixed reviews.
