Assam: Doctors and students of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital staged a protest against the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old junior doctor of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The victim was found dead in horrific circumstances, sparking outrage and demands for justice.

The Delhi CBI team has reached the CGO complex in Kolkata. They are investigating the rape and murder case at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Following an order from the Calcutta High Court, the CBI has taken over the case and sent a specialised medical and forensic team from Delhi.

Guwahati: Assam’s Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) is facing a severe backlash over its recent warning to women doctors and other staff urging them not to roam alone at night.

In response to this, students reacted strongly and said that authorities should improve security measures on campus instead of telling them to stay in their rooms.

The family of the Kolkata rape and murder victim has shared their ordeal. The victim’s father revealed that he came to know about his daughter’s death from a university official, who initially claimed that she had committed suicide.

On Tuesday afternoon, 16 Bangladeshi nationals (13 men and 3 women) were arrested at Agartala railway station. Among the arrested, three were identified as Bangladeshi touts involved in illegal activities.

Trinamool Congress MP Sukhendu Sekhar Ray has announced that he will join the protest on Wednesday. The protest is against the rape and murder of a 31-year-old junior doctor from Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

She shared the news on X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote: “I will join the protesters tomorrow, particularly as I have a daughter and a young granddaughter, like millions of other Bengali families. We must rise to the occasion. Enough cruelty against women. Let us stand together. Come what may.”

Calcutta: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the rape and murder case at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Following a directive from the Calcutta High Court, a CBI team, including specialised medical and forensic experts, has arrived from Delhi to investigate the case.
