Satire: Those who own land, property, water, forests, drains and taps, reel and real, remember the sacrifice… – 15th August Special Satire Those who own land, property, water, forests, drains, taps and real estate, remember the sacrifice NTC

Once again Independence Day has come. It has been coming continuously since independence, yet we have to recognize that 15th August is our national festival. It has a lot of importance. It has the most importance for the film people. If this day did not exist, then through what medium would they have spoken about patriotism, this is a very burning question.

Through this day, the film people have shown so much patriotism that even the soul of the country has trembled. Actor-director Manoj Kumar’s contribution in this field is amazing. It is incomparable and unforgettable. He has personally given a freedom fighter named Bharat Kumar to the country. Bollywood too, on his lines, has brought the revolutionary Nana Patekar to the film industry with tremendous efforts. Many film producers and heroes have also sacrificed their lives in the name of this patriotism. It is a different matter that in this process of sacrificing, only their homes have been converted into big bungalows.

Just like the cinema people, this day is of dangerous importance for the music companies too. On this day, they distribute so much patriotism in the entire country in such a loud voice that every ear from Kashmir to Kanyakumari gets work. Every patriotic song that starts with enthusiasm and passion in the morning reaches such a terrifying voice by the evening that even the poor song gets moved by its condition. Tears fall from the sound box, the loudspeakers start crying. But no one can see. Well, let it go, yes, in the meantime the common man also finishes his little work of getting emotional.

On this day, the government also illuminates government buildings. Through this, people who could not understand the importance of independence during the day are expected to cross all limits of understanding about ‘this bright day’ in the light of night. If possible, they should also break all the walls of thoughtfulness. If possible, they should impart this knowledge to the entire world, apart from themselves, with knowledge.

This day of holiday has a great significance in the hearts of the employees as well. They wake up from their slumber with full respect for this day. They bring potatoes, onions and groceries and keep them at home. They also pay tribute to the film martyrs through the patriotic film on TV in the afternoon. They lament watching patriotic films of other countries on Netflix. They watch the efforts of their heroines with wide open eyes in the direction of patriotism. They sigh for the lack of so much glamour in the patriotism of our country. While sighing, they also finish the pending work of beating the children by remembering the routine work. Then they leave for a friend’s house to gossip with peace. The importance of this day remains in their mind throughout the work. They insist on squeezing every moment of this day with full patriotism.

Similarly, this day is of great importance for many promising sons and daughters. On this day, they get free time and perform their national duty. They sacrifice their duty by making reels on every particle and moment of this earth, be it park-shop, land-house, sky-plane, water-forest, drain-tap. Then they sit comfortably and watch the efforts made by others on similar particles and moments. On seeing them, they lament from every angle on the poor quality of their camera and the poor quality of their talent.

For mothers and wives, this day is meant for hard work. Husbands and children keep on sitting and constantly ordering poha and pakoras. They are neither able to watch their favourite serials nor complete their routine of chatting with the neighbours. Similarly, this day is of utmost importance for the elderly. They devote the whole day to the activities of watching TV, reading newspapers and coughing, as they do every day. On this day, as an additional activity, they present a jugalbandi of the glorious past with cough. The son keeps distance from them due to cough, the grandson avoids them to avoid the jugalbandi of the golden past. In both the cases, their busyness of cursing the present increases.

So in this way, entangled between the reel and the real, in the excitement and enthusiasm of the whole day, we forget this simple fact… that on this day we got independence due to the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs, that’s all!
