Mr Bachchan controversy: CBFC pulls Amitabh-Rekha poster from Ravi Teja-starrer

Mr. Bachchan Controversy: Just before the Telugu film hit the big screens on August 15, Ravi Teja’s upcoming feature film Mr. BachchanIt’s making headlines. However, the CBFC has recommended some modifications.

Changes made in Ravi Teja’s Mr Bachchan

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC granted Bachchan a U/A certificate, but only after making several modifications. One of the most significant changes was the removal of a poster that showed Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha during the title video. As per the CBFC directive, the poster was replaced with one featuring Amitabh Bachchan with his wife, Jaya Bachchan.

More changes made to Mr Bachchan by CBFC

A warning has been added at the beginning stating that the film is fictional and bears no resemblance to any person or place. In addition, a scene of more than two minutes in which a small child smokes a bidi has been censored. The bidi has been replaced by a pencil.

At four places, certain words and abuses have been muted or replaced. After these changes were made, the CBFC cleared the film on August 13, two days before its release. The film’s runtime, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is reportedly 2 hours and 38 minutes.

Directed by Harish Shankar and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory, Mr Bachchan is Ravi Teja’s third project with Shankar, after Shock (2006) and Mirapakay (2011). The film features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead in her debut role.
