Angry over the alleged rape and murder of a young woman doctor on the campus of the metropolis’ RG Kar Medical College and Hospital last week, thousands of women across the state staged an unprecedented demonstration at midnight on Wednesday. Thousands of women spontaneously came out of their homes everywhere and started expressing their anger over the incident by raising slogans of “We want justice.” Meanwhile, apart from the protesters, a group of 30 to 35 unidentified persons armed with sticks entered the RG Kar Medical College campus and indulged in massive vandalism. Even the platform already built there for the women protesters was demolished.
The unidentified criminals also vandalized the Emergency Room after knocking down the stage of the protesters. The hospital’s chair-table was severely damaged. The beds of the patients were also demolished. These unknown criminals did not even spare the police. These criminals also overturned the vehicle of the policemen who arrived there. Not one, but several vehicles. Scooters and other vehicles were also damaged. The special thing was that this orgy continued despite the presence of a large number of policemen.
