5 years, Rs 243 crore spent… Even police from 11 countries will not be able to find this Singrauli Dam, it has a connection with Kamal Nath: The dam was not built in Madhya Pradesh and Rs 243 crore was spent.

Singrauli: A huge scam has come to light in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, where a dam worth Rs 243.95 crore has not been constructed till date. What is shocking is that the Kamal Nath-led Congress government had given this amount in advance to companies to construct dams and water canals between 2018 and 2020. This matter is related to the Gond Main Irrigation Project in Singrauli.

What’s the problem?

In 2019, the Kamal Nath government had awarded the contract to build a dam to a Hyderabad-based company and also paid Rs 243.95 crore. The last date for the construction of the dam was set as March 28, 2024. However, even after five years, the construction work of the dam could not begin. Not a single pipe was laid. Local BJP MLA Meshram raised the matter in the assembly. He raised questions about the progress of the project but received no response.

Now the Mohan Yadav government has given its approval.

However, the MLA claims that the present Mohan Yadav government has approved the construction of the dam and the NOC is being sought from the Environment Ministry. According to the MLA, in the year 2019, during the Kamal Nath government, money was given in advance to a company. The company did not carry out any work. After the exit of the Congress government, the construction work of the dam could not begin.

case of embezzlement of government funds

In fact, during the Kamal Nath Congress government in Singrauli between 2018 and 2020, the government made an advance payment of Rs 243.95 crore to companies to construct a dam water channel. Here the Kamal Nath government in the state fell. The Shivraj Singh Chauhan government was formed but it was not given any attention. Currently there is a BJP government in the state but the dam construction works are yet to be completed. Although the MLA did not get answers to his questions in the assembly. But he claims that the present state government has given its approval. NOC is sought from the Environment Ministry.
