New Delhi: Following the tragic murder of a young doctor in Bengal, actress Mallobika Banerjee has come forward to stand up for justice and safety of women. Mallobika, who hails from Bengal, was actively involved in protests last night against the heinous crime committed at RG Kar Hospital where the innocent doctor was raped and murdered.
Mallobika shared images on her social media with a very emotional message: “I stand in silent solidarity with a voice that was silenced too soon. My heart aches for the innocent life lost and the unimaginable horror she endured. As we march for justice, I can’t help but wonder: how many more lives will it take for our girls to feel safe in a world that should protect them? #JusticeForHer #SafetyForGirls.”
The actress also expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of violence against women, particularly those who leave their hometowns to pursue their dreams. “It is dangerous for every girl to dream of something and have the courage to leave her state and settle somewhere else. It is horrifying how a girl who aspired to serve others by becoming a doctor became a victim of such a heinous crime,” she said.
“Today we celebrate our 78th Independence Day and we must celebrate it as a black day as we have witnessed so many crimes and murders in just one year. Every new day brings news of girls being killed or murdered. Are we safe even after so many years of independence?” Mallobika added.
Mallobika also urged the public to take concrete action against these atrocities. “This is my small appeal to the people: since it is time, I hope people will stop scrolling through social media and saying ‘Om Shanti’ or ‘RIP’ and rise up against all this. Only then will I feel that this is the right independence for each one of us.”
