Hyundai Creta, rival of Kia Seltos, turns 5 in India

The mid-size SUV segment in the Indian market is one of the categories that receives a lot of attention from consumers. To represent itself in this segment, South Korean carmaker Kia has launched the Seals In 2019, it was also the brand’s first model in the Indian market and competed against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate and MG Astor. After competing for 5 years in the segment, the brand has racked up sales of nearly 500,000 units of the vehicles.

The Seltos has been the company’s top-selling product, accounting for over 48% of total domestic sales. It occupies the top position in driving Kia’s overall connected car sales, contributing 65%. As far as customer preference is concerned, over 57% of all Seltos units sold are equipped with connected car features.

This compact SUV is equipped with features like a fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, TPMS, Hill Start Assist, Head-Up Display, 360-degree camera, ADAS functions, six airbags, ESC, and more.

The Seltos petrol is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 113.4 bhp and 144 Nm of torque, while the diesel variant comes with a 1.5-litre turbo engine that makes 114.4 bhp per hour and 250 Nm of torque. The petrol engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed CVT. Meanwhile, the diesel engine is available with either a 6-speed iMT gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Furthermore, the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces 157.8 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. This energetic petrol engine is offered with a choice of either a 6-speed iMT gearbox or a 7-speed DCT.
