Ace of Indian rhythm jasprit bumrah discussed the unique leadership approaches of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohliand Mrs Dhonihighlighting the impact each captain has had on the team and his personal growth as a player. Bumrah, who is among the few to have played under all three captains, has shown remarkable progress since his international debut under Dhoni. Under Kohli, he discovered his rhythm and became more expressive on the field. Later, he enjoyed significant autonomy under Rohit’s captaincy, both for the Mumbai Indians and the Indian national team.

Bumrah praised Sharma’s talent for establishing an emotional bond with players, acknowledging their difficulties and being receptive to their input.

“Rohit is one of the few captains who has empathy towards the bowlers. Rohit is not rigid, he is open to feedback,” he said in an interaction with The Indian Express.

Bumrah attributed his confidence on the international stage to the faith and instinctive style of legendary captain MS Dhoni, which enabled him to perform at his best.

“MS gave me a lot of confidence very quickly. He has a lot of faith in his instincts and doesn’t believe in over-planning,” the Mumbai Indians player said.

The 30-year-old credited Kohli for raising the team’s physical standards and continuing to exert his leadership influence even after relinquishing the captaincy.

“Virat is a person full of energy, passionate and wears his heart on his sleeve. Virat is no longer the captain but he is still a leader. Captaincy is a position but a team is led by 11 people,” he said.

Taking into account his own experiences in leadership, Bumrah, who has led India in both Test matches and T20Is, shared his view that bowlers have a distinctive talent to guide the team.

“I think bowlers are intelligent people because they have to get the batsmen out. We are in the firing line. When we lose a match, the blame is usually placed on the bowlers. So it’s a tough job,” Bumrah said.
