Worst shoes ever: Internet slams Rs 50,000 ‘comfortable’ heels made by billionaire

Spanx founder Sara Blakely has accomplished what many women thought impossible: she invented comfortable, high-heeled shoes. On August 20, the billionaire entrepreneur will introduce Sneex, a new footwear brand specializing in high-heeled sneakers.

“Sneex is my love letter to all the women who have kicked off their heels at a party, worn flats to work with heels in their bag, and thought their days of wearing heels were over,” Blakely wrote on the Sneex website ahead of the launch.

The “luxury hybrid stiletto” line of shoes will start at ₹33,000, but the most expensive pairs will be priced at around ₹50,000.

According to the brand’s website, the patented design seeks to solve the “major pain points of high heels” by improving weight distribution, providing a comfortable toe box and offering better arch support.

How Internet users reacted to the “ugly shoe”:

Internet users were not impressed with the high-heeled sneaker concept. A tweet promoting Sara Blakely’s Sneex shoes received mostly negative comments, despite garnering almost a million views.

“This is an extraordinarily ugly shoe,” wrote one X user. “The idea makes sense. The execution is HORRIBLE,” said another.

“This is one of the ugliest shoes I have ever seen,” said a third X user.

Some people offered a more balanced opinion, saying: “They are definitely not attractive, but people said the same thing about Crocs, and look at the success they have had thanks to comfort. We’ll see how Sneex fares!”

Meanwhile, some questioned whether Sneex would deliver on its promises. “This approach seems too literal. Turning a heel into a sneaker doesn’t address the core issues that cause discomfort,” commented user X Alex.
